Mauna Lani Golf – The North Course

Mauna Lani enjoys a storied golf history, and all 36 holes are a fitting tribute to Francis I‘i Brown. Known for its lava bed terrain dotted by kiawe trees, the North Course offers the quintessential Hawai‘i golf experience. The South Course, with its stark a‘a lava setting, presents a challenging layout with holes set before mountain and ocean views—including #15, one of the world’s most photographed over-the-ocean holes. More than anything, they are places of connection—where moms, dads, sisters and brothers can grow closer with every drive, chip and putt.Since opening in 1981, the Mauna Lani Courses have collected numerous “Best Courses You Can Play” awards from Golfweek, Golf Digest and GOLF Magazine, and they were a 10 year host venue of the Senior Skins Game – hosting many of golf’s greats, including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino and Gary Player.

The North Course represents the quintessential golf experience on the Island of Hawaii. Built on a lava bed, the North is characterized by 18 holes of rolling terrain punctuated by Kiawe (mesquite) forests. A 230-acre protected archaeological district lies on the northern boundary of the golf course. No.17, a par three tucked into a natural lava amphitheater, is the resort’s signature hole and a favorite “I was here” photo spot. This course has become one of the most popular tournament venues on the Island.
